CAN is against social exclusion and is for mainstreaming disability. It aims to shift the agenda for action from charity and pity to rights and dignity, from a medical model of care to a social model of acceptance and inclusion.
CAN has established a nationwide network of agencies and individuals, creating opportunities for providers and consumers of disability services to achieve self-reliance and self-fulfilment.
CAN’s efforts to mainstream disability are through Action Learning which influences policies, programmes, interventions and changing priorities on the basis of relevant and updated information.
CAN’s database serves as a reliable source of research-based information.
